RESILIENT COMMUNICATIONS · PUERTO RICO

Resilient communications planning and operational awareness for Puerto Rico.

SKYNET is a Puerto Rico-focused resilient communications project built around LoRa/Meshtastic networking, organization-operated gateways, fixed and backup sites, RF engineering, and operational awareness. The public site exposes planning and environmental tools while protected network traffic and member operations remain inside the authorized area.

ABOUT SKYNET

A communications network built for resilience, not just coverage.

SKYNET combines Meshtastic/LoRa radios, organization gateways, and the WATCHTOWER software platform to observe network health, support RF planning, and maintain communications awareness across Puerto Rico. The operational side is designed around CORE, BACKUP, and RELAY roles so the network can continue functioning when a primary site or normal infrastructure is unavailable. The member platform adds missions, operator accountability, infrastructure references, gateway health, RF observations, and communications-path intelligence.

Resilient by roleCORE, BACKUP and RELAY sites are organized so communications do not depend on one location.
Evidence-driven RFPlanning uses terrain and Fresnel analysis; the private system also learns from real RF observations and path history.
Public / private separationPublic tools expose safe planning and environmental information, not protected messages, missions, member records or private station telemetry.
COREPrimary SKYNET operational site with the fullest command, gateway and intelligence capabilities.
BACKUPIndependent standby site designed to keep communications available when a primary site is unavailable.
RELAYRemote site used to extend reach and strengthen the mesh across difficult terrain or distance.
WATCHTOWERThe software and observation layer used for gateway, RF, network-health and communications intelligence. SKYNET radio nodes and WATCHTOWER stations are tracked as separate concepts.

Public-safe by design. Public tools use terrain, public environmental feeds and gateway locations explicitly designated for public display. Protected SKYNET messages, member identities, missions, private station assignments, gateway telemetry and internal RF intelligence remain in the authorized member area.
