SKYNET · AN RNPR PROGRAM
A community-powered resilient communications network for Puerto Rico.
SKYNET is the resilient communications network and technology program operated by Resilient Network Puerto Rico, Inc. It combines distributed radio communications, gateways, monitoring systems, Internet connectivity when available, local data storage, mapping, automation, and other technologies to create an additional communications layer for participating communities.
Designed for resilience. Individual portions of the network can continue providing useful communications capabilities even when Internet access or centralized infrastructure becomes unavailable.
Important: SKYNET supplements existing communications capabilities. It is not a replacement for 911, public-safety communications, cellular service, or official emergency-alert systems.
COMMUNITYPractical communications capability for participating communities during normal and emergency conditions.
INFRASTRUCTUREDistributed gateways, relay stations, antennas, and backup or independent power.
EDUCATIONHands-on learning in radio, networking, electronics, RF planning, and resilient communications.
INTELLIGENCEMapping, monitoring, observation, and data tools that support responsible network awareness.
